See you in San Diego!
Moving away from the beloved islands of Hawaii is one of the hardest thing you can do.
Hawaii has been our home for 4 years. We have been blessed with our time here to connect with the beautiful land and spirit of the islands.
“Aloha” really is not just a word of Hello, Goodbye and Love… it is a way of living and becomes an essential part of who you are.
Hawaii’s ocean waters are pure and healing, the skies are free of pollution, shooting stars can be seen from our backyard on almost any given night that is free of clouds, waves are abundant, and the people are beautiful and simple. Our communities are small, intimate and caring. People reach out to one another, always lending a helping hand when needed. I have seen some of the most touching demonstrations of love and support here that I have never seen anywhere else.
It pains me to say that we are moving away, but I know that California is not a final destination for us. It is a stepping stone in our life – another part of our big journey. We are excited to meet new people, enjoy new activities, grow our businesses, and discover new places.
We just signed papers for an adorable English style cottage in La Jolla. It is a walk away from the famous Windansea surfing beach, bike ride to hangouts around Prospect Street and close to the La Jolla cove. I am looking forward to joining the local La Jolla Cove open water swim clubs, biking along the beautiful La Jolla neighborhood coastline, visiting with our friends and family, BBQing in our backyard, having a real fireplace in our living room for the cold months, snowboarding in Bear Mountain, road trips, stand-up paddle boarding when the waters are too cold, taking up scuba diving and having cheap airplane tickets for more international traveling.
To our beloved Hawaii wedding vendors and clients, please have no fear. As excited as I am about shooting Southern California weddings, I am simply beside myself to be flying back and forth to Hawaii for your beautiful weddings. This truly completes me! So to each of you: thank you for your kindness and support. You guys totally rock and keep me sane!
Aloha Hawaii and see you later in California, dudes!

I had the pleasure of photographing this really talented and dynamic couple on the North Shore of Oahu, in Haleiwa. Mahina is a beautiful model and Nalu recently starred as an actor in the movie One Kine Day, which was filmed on Oahu. The film won the Audience Choice Award for Narrative Feature from the 2010 Hawaii International Film Festival and was selected to be a part of the 2011 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.
